The figure
Earth above Heaven: the receptive on top, the creative below. The energies meet instead of fleeing each other — the image of accord and circulation.
What this figure illuminates
Peace lights up the moments when forces align and communication flows. It is a fertile state, but a living one: nothing acquired stays so without care, and it is often at the height that maintenance matters most.
For a decision, the figure invites you to look at what flows well between the parties — and not to take that accord as final. The right moment is cultivated, not owned.

The Judgment
The small departs, the great arrives; heaven and earth are in accord. Good fortune, and things go well.
The Image
Heaven and earth mingle, and all things flourish. Seeing this, the ruler shapes their measures to that order and helps the people thrive.
The Six Lines
- First line
Pull one stalk and its neighbours come with it. To advance now draws others along — good fortune.
- Second line
Bear with the coarse, dare to cross without a boat, forget no one far off, favor no faction — and you hold to the middle way.
- Third line
No peace lasts undisturbed, no ebb without return. Stay firm, foresee the hard turn, and you make no error.
- Fourth line
You come down lightly, not leaning on your wealth, and your neighbours join you — not warned, but sincere.
- Fifth line
Like the king who gave his sister in marriage with humility, meeting high with low brings blessing and great good fortune.
- Sixth line
The wall crumbles back into the moat — the season of peace is ending. Do not send out the army; even rightful orders now bring regret.
